Grandmother Weaver

Writing Spider

Gilded-faced creatrix, every year reborn through her daughters;

called out of the undergrowth by the cicadas crescendo, when crickets

begin to play their late summer serenades.  Record keeper, artist and poet,

she embroiders prophecy and luck into the silken zigzags of her web;

a seasonal almanac of dreams, tide charts and lunar movements;

with directions to the pathway of spirit; and recipes for good living.

Sacred architect and weaver of fate, she continually rebuilds

all that the world breaks down.
